BALTIMORE, MD., —  The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.’s Board of Directors announces its selection of Brother Joseph “Joe” Paul [Iota Delta ’98, Omicron Lambda Alpha] as the Fraternity’s 29th Executive Director.

A seasoned non-profit executive and businessperson, Brother Paul comes to Alpha Phi Alpha from The Stafford Foundation in Virginia where he served as the Chief Operating Officer. He has also served as President & CEO of Campus 2 Careers Workshops, Director, Management Leadership for Tomorrow and Human Resources Officer for the District of Columbia Government.

I am pleased and excited to have Brother Paul continue his leadership in the fraternity in our national office. Since his initiation, he has exemplified the fraternity’s mission statement “to develop leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy to our communities.” His experience leading organizations, managing people and budgets while representing Alpha with the highest integrity, will serve the organization well for years to come.

As Alpha’s new Executive Director, Brother Paul has very high expectations for himself and for the fraternity. He says, “I believe we have a duty, as Brothers of the Fraternity, to sustain what our forward-thinking Jewels built. The Seven Jewels were the architects of this House, and every brother who enters holds a brick as well as the capacity to either build up or tear down. It is our responsibility to attract Brothers, staff, and volunteers who can help build and sustain our beloved Fraternity. I believe Alpha’s best days are ahead of us and I look forward to maximizing the use of our resources to secure our place in history for the next 114 years.”

Brother Paul was initiated into Alpha through the Iota Delta Chapter at Florida State University in the Fall of 1998. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science and a Bachelor of Science in Spanish and Russian. Brother Paul served the chapter in various capacities including Chapter President. In 2002, Brother Paul was elected to the fraternity’s board of directors to serve as the Southern Region Assistant Vice President, and he subsequently won National College Brother of the Year in 2002.

Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Miami, Florida, Brother Paul is an active member of the 500th House of Alpha, Omicron Lambda Alpha in Washington, DC. Outside of Alpha Phi Alpha, he serves as the first African American President of The Seminole Club of Greater Washington DC. He is on board of directors for the Central Union Mission where he hosts an annual event that has provided haircuts, suits, ties and training to more than a thousand homeless men to date, and serves on the National Board of Directors for his Alma Mater, Florida State University.

We are excited to have Brother Paul‘s leadership, vision and energy at this time in the history of Alpha Phi Alpha. Please join us in welcoming him to the table of leadership of our beloved Fraternity. His tenure of leadership will begin on Monday, April 20, 2020.
