Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Renews Agreement with Western Governors University
Paves the way for new scholarships for Alpha Phi Alpha members
BALTIMORE (May 7, 2026) – Leaders of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and online nonprofit Western Governors University announced the renewal of a collaboration agreement providing $5,000 WGU Service and Leadership Scholarships available for financial Alpha Phi Alpha members who enroll in WGU.
The agreement’s goal is to encourage Alpha Phi Alpha members and staff to upskill and further their careers by pursuing educational opportunities to advance personal goals and the work of the fraternity.

Metellus, Jr. “The continuation of our partnership with Western Governors University further highlights this commitment and encourages the professional growth and aspirations of our Brothers.”
Designed for working adults, WGU offers an asynchronous, competency-based model that allows students to log in and access coursework at a time convenient for them, and to accelerate at their own pace. WGU offers more than 120 bachelor’s, master’s and professional certificate programs in business, technology, health care,and education. For most degree programs, tuition is about $4,000 per six-month term, allowing students to take as many courses as they are comfortable with, with the assigned program mento’s approval.
The WGU Service and Leadership Scholarships are disbursed in increments of $1,250 per term and are renewable up to four terms. To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, a student must provide a Fraternity Dues Card or membership number. The deadline to apply for the 2025-2026 aid year is June 30, 20206.
